Background: In crime investigation, the role of detective dogs play crucial role. They have been in use for a long time in many countries in the world. Likewise in Nepal for the first in 1969 AD four Nepal Police Officers were sent to Malaysia for the Dog Training Course. In 1975 Nepal Police established a dog unit in Police Head Quarter, Naxal. In order to cope with the challenges of increased crime rate and pattern, the crucial role of dog in crime investigation was felt. As a result the dog unit has been upgraded to Central Police Dog Training School in Kathmandu in 1990. Since then Central Police Dog Training School has been successfully working in the field of crime investigation and security. Objectives of the School
• Train the dogs for detective purpose. • Help to facilitate investigation in criminal, arms and ammunition, explosive and narcotics. • To develop qualified dog handlers and trainers. • Provide needful assistance during natural disaster by the trained rescue dogs. • Breeding quality pups
